10 players from Murakwai travelled to Derry for the Sport NI Youth Games and all came home with medals! Rebecca Kerr, Tori Kee, Daniel Mayhew & Rory Kelly all won Gold, Caitlin Eachus, Katie Ferguson & Conor Kelly won Silvers and Daniel Hodgett, Jack Eachus & Sarah Rigby all won Bronze! Well done to Alan Kerr who filled for Scott (who was at a tournament in France) as coach for the day!

Jodie Kee has won the Tournoi de judo ville de Lanester in France. She received a bye in the first round then defeated Gwenola Jardel of JC All Scoff, France in the quarter final with a throw and a hold down. She then faced the favourite, Anael Panetier from Esperance la Boue in the semi-final, this was a closely fought contest which went right to the end with Jodie deservedly winning on the referee’s decision. She then fought Cloe Yvin of CPB Rennes in the final, this contest started off with Jodie being thrown for a yuko early on but she regained her composure to throw her opponent for a yuko, then a wazari, and then with a standing seo (which won her a trophy for the best technique of the day!) for Ippon to claim Gold. Congratulations to Jodie from all at Murakwai!

Only 3 players from Murakwai travelled to Donegal to for the All-Ireland Judo Championships on Saturday 5th December.  All 3 won Silver medals in their respective categories.  Daniel Mayhew (Cadets) moved up to u55kgs for the first time and fought well winning his first 3 contests before losing to Eoin Flemming in the final. Alan Kerr won the 2nd silver of the day for Murakwai in the Junior mens u73kgs losing to Caoimhin Thompson in the final. Last up was Scott Mayne in the Senior Mens u90kgs, Scott won 2 out of 3 contests losing to Brazillian Yuri Zindolis who was fighting for UCD in golden score.
