It was an excellent day for Murakwai at the Irish Open today in the City West Hotel in Dublin. We won an impressive 7 Golds and 4 Bronze medals. 3 of the Golds were won by Jodie Kee who dominated the under 57kg category in the Cadets, Juniors and Seniors.
Jodie Kee once again produced Northern Ireland’s best result at this year’s British Championships, held in Sheffield at the weekend, finishing in 7th place in the Junior women u57kgs. Despite being unable to add to her 3 previous National medals this was a good result for Jodie who is up 2 weight categories and an age group from last year. There were also good performances from James Reid and Robyn Kelly who were both competing in the event for the first time, both players finished in a very credible 9th place. 14 players travelled to Dublin for the Leinster Open today and returned with 12 medals! In the Minors (U12 years) there were Gold medals for Alex Kelly at u24kgs, Matthew Elliott at u41kgs and Cameron Kelly at +45kgs and Bronze medals for Darcey Reid at u33kgs, Tori Kee at u36kgs and Conor Kelly at u45kgs. Kiah Reid (u30kgs) and Daniel Curry (u34kgs) both finished just outside the medals in 5th place and Jack Bingham (u37kgs) finished in 7th place.
